Michael's Reviews

The Brothers Bloom - A+
Heart-warming and poetic. Superb acting and a one-of-a-kind story. Every character is lovable and extremely well-written. This film is definitely in my top five.

The Dinner Game - B
I liked it. That's about it, though. It's not one of those movies that I will think about a lot but I think it would be easy to reference, if it hadn't been for Dinner for Schmucks. All of these characters were very likable to me, especially the idiot. He was a classic schmuck. The only thing that bothered me was that some of the shots were out of focus. Overall, good film.

Frenemy - AI like dialogue-heavy movies and this is one of my favorites. I think the acting is great, the soundtrack is excellent, and the writing is superb. It's got a great deal of humor and jokes and a few good twists & turns.

Moonrise Kingdom - B+
This has Wes Anderson all over it, although it's not my favorite of his. Don't get me wrong; it's a great film, with a great cast, very pretty imagery, and excellent imagination. A good word to sum it up: ADORABLE.

The Talented Mr. Ripley - A
This was intense, but a wee bit slow at the end. There were a few unnecessary twists and a few questions that I was left with. It was visually stunning, with great acting and a good story. This one is right up my alley.

Wet Hot American Summer - C+Extra cheesy and full of cheap laughs. It did have some great one-liners, but not really my style of humor. Definitely worth the watch though. There are so many references to this movie in real life!
